When can we get back to cruising?

Considering that I haven't left my 5-kilometre travel zone for six weeks and am having home deliveries so I haven't been inside a shop either, am I being too optimistic to think that I will be on a cruise ship in the Caribbean before Christmas 2021?

Last year our November cruise was cancelled, eventually, and with our deposit increased we re-booked for a November 2021 cruise. Back then I thought my wife was being overly cautious but now it seems as if she was being over-optimistic.

Maybe we should be looking at  2022 before cruising returns?

Today I visited the Iglu cruises website today and searched for any cruises of any duration to the Caribbean. It looks like the industry still believes that 2021 is going to have people cruising.

February 2021: No cruises worldwide

March 2021: No cruises worldwide

April 2021: 43 cruises worldwide - 4 for the Caribbean. One that involves flying from the UK to Tampa - see link Western Caribbean from Tampa, 30 April 2021 (7 nights) from £1,405

May 2021: 660 cruises worldwide - 56 for the Caribbean

June 2021: 760 cruises - 56 for the Caribbean

July 2021: 868 cruises -  77 for the Caribbean

August 2021: 882 cruises - 72 for the Caribbean

September 2021: 785 cruises - 65 for the Caribbean

October 2021:  763 cruises -  91 for the Caribbean

November 2021: 955 cruises - 367 for the Caribbean

December 2021: 1,052 cruises- 530 for the Caribbean

So, on the face of it, the cruise industry is reluctant to admit that cruising this year is going to halt completely.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's look at the May 2021 Caribbean cruises - depart from the following ports:

It's October 2021 before you will find any ships departing from a UK port. In this case, 5 cruises depart for the Caribbean from Southampton. P&O Cruises have 3 and Oceania Cruises have 2.

Hope this helps with your planning of a cruise

Keep safe
